What's next for the Yankees?

I hate to say it, but it's rebuilding time. La Russa said no way to job already. I don't think it's a good idea to replace a legend with Mattingly or Girardi. Torre is one tough act to follow. I still say you have to cut ties if you want to get to a World Series in two to three years. A-Rod actually backed up Torre which was weird because of his connection with Pinella. Also, you have to find someone that won't burn out all of our young pitchers too. Girardi did a great job in Florida with the youngsters, but he might have been the reason there was a surgery and some dead arms in Florida this year. It would also be tough for some of the vets who played with Girardi to take him seriously even though he was a Bench Coach for Torre on year. It's a tough. This team needs a plan, and I don't see keeping everyone together as a sound one, financially or in the long run. Maybe it's time to see Mo go? We have to keep Posada. There are no other catchers on the market that can do what he does or keep the pitchers happy. I hate to say it, but Mo is expendable. I say we pick up Abreu for the year and trade him along with cash. Maybe we can get a decent corner infield prospect in return. We should then make a serious run at Kosuke Fukodome. Damon can not be relied upon to lead off a full year, and we might need him to convert to 1b, I know it sounds silly. We should let A-Rod go (make a run, but only to run up him price for the Cubs, Giants, Angels, Red Sox, etc...,) and see who is left on the market at 3rd, or 1st. Maybe we can sign Lowell, but we have to be ok with Betemit at 3rd if there is accountability. We have to develop our young pitching staff to compete and sign some vets to get along for the next couple of years. We can have a fill in like Damon at 1st until Texiera hits the market. By that time Giambi and other money will be coming off the books along with some other dead weight. What does this all mean? We will have the flexibility to make serious runs at Johan Santana (I don't care if he just bought a house in Minnesota, The Boss will by him a town in Westchester), Teixieira, and a couple of other gems. Of course we will have an older Jeter, Matsui, and company, but think of a rotation of J. Santana (or another #1 Starter) Wang, Hughes, Chamberlain, Kennedy, and maybe a couple others just to be sure. A line up with a mature, Cano, Cabrera, Teixeira, and the old guard. Great mix of talent and veterans for the last charge of Jeter's Yankees. Of course the question remains, how do you replace two Yankee legends, Torre and Mo?

Because of the revenue the Yankees generate for ALL of baseball, I think this is very relevant.
