West Virginia and Pat White do not get the credit they deserves.

I listen to a lot of people talk about Pat White. They all talk about how much better he is this year. Well, I think that people have to open their eyes. Last year, he had a very good season as a passer. Sure, he didn't rack up passing yards, but when you can run the ball like they did last year, why would you even try to pass? I know that he seems to be passing more this year, but then again when you have a whole nation of critics you would pass more too.

I guess that it just irritates me that people just do not give credit to the West Virginia Mountaineers and any part of the team. They get credit for a great running team and having a great backfield, but no one talks about how good the rest of the team is. If they weren't in the Big East they would get more credit, I'm sure, but they are doing the right thing and trying to make the Big East better.

It's funny that the people that are WV fans do not even think that they could hang with the best teams in the country. The reality is that they are one of the best teams in the country and it's due time that they get credit for it. The hopes are to play for the national title this year, but in my opinion, they will have to get some help from three or four other teams.

I hope that all falls into place for the Mountaineers and we have the great season that we have talked about all year long. Maybe then we would get the credit we deserve.

It's getting harder and harder to ignore the Big East as a major football conference when so many of their teams continue to play well. They had three teams in the top thirteen last week with South Florida falling a few points shy of being #25. With Cincinnati's third straight impressive win, the Big East has a chance to have five teams ranked in the poll this week. And frankly, I think that's what West Virginia needs most. To be considered as one of the best teams in the country, people need to realize what a strong conference they're coming from.

Dont go touting the Bg East just yet when Louisville just got beat by UK. That is the reason why people dont give the Big East props. The powerhouse teams in the league always end up tripping over crazy road blocks.

Speaking of Kentucky, why isn't anyone talking about Andre Woodson?

No kidding. UK's never even sniffed a big time win like that one in a long while.

Most of their "crazy roadblocks" are awful Big East teams that show up out of nowhere.

WVU is ranked 4th right now. While I would like to see all of the top 4 teams round robin it off to declare a victor I dont see WVU coming out on top. I think being ranked 4th and kind of still flying under the radar is more than enough credit I would I have thought.

Great point. Besides, who could you legitmately put the Mountaineers over in the polls right now? USC, LSU, and Oklahoma have all looked just as dominant if not more dominant than West Viriginia so far. I think Rich Rodiriguez and his team should love being ranked 4th because you could make a case that Florida deserves to be ahead of them.

Dominant is an understatement. I was having a conversation yesterday at work about those 3 teams (moreso including the top 5 at deepest) after the Nebraska USC game. The top 25 should be broken into top 5 (at deepest) then the rest of the field. The top 3 just look ridiculous right now.

I agree with BigPPup and Dwalberto. I've never been terribly impressed with the level of play from the Big East. I think they've looked a lot better than they are by playing in a conference that's mediocre from top to bottom, and by playing a VERY favorable bowl schedule that tends to pit them against the lower-rung teams from other conferences. PLUS, they're ranked 4th. PLUS, White and Slaton have both been talked about as leading contenders for the Heisman, and White was ranked by Herbstreit as the number one dual-threat QB even though he routinely passes for 150 yards or less.

Pup is also right to point out that you should wait until the end of the day to make articles like this, because it looks absurd to complain about the Big East not getting props when its second-best team loses to a Kentucky team that will probably finish 7th in the SEC.

Yeah man, I'm not calling the Big East weak for any reason; I just read my original comment and I'm not sure how that tone was picked up from it. The bottom third of the Big East consistently has the potential to be awful; but there are teams that show up and just play ball and can beat the hell out of each other. Is it the best of the BCS conferences (texasaltwell)? No, not even close actually. Is it better than the Big Ten this year and last year? Yes, yes it is.

Yes, they went undefeated in large part because they had very favorable matchups. Look at the bowl tie-ins and see where the Big East teams were ranked in their conferences versus the conference rankings of their opponents. I think the Big East showed last year that they deserve a shot at legitimacy. But, I'm not going to praise the power of a conference that has such favorable bowl matchups because of traditional weakness. I want to see them play REAL opponents.

And I know you weren't calling the Big East. I was just agreeing with your statement that it's hard to say they're not getting the credit they deserve considering that they had two top ten teams and have three leading Heisman candidates.

My point is, weak or not, they're getting plenty of credit. Time for Big East fans to stop whining.

I get what you are saying about kentucky beating louiville but no discredits the big 10 just because michigan loses to a no name at least kentucky is in a major conference. I am not saying that i think that WV is the best team in the nation but I think that they are better than people give them credit for. In my opinion they could score with any team in the nation. They have a high power offence that just doesnt stop coming at you, eventually they will wear anyone down but the question is is 4 qaurters enough time to wear down a USC or LSU or OU that is the question that i would like to see answered.

Actually, I did say that. I've been thoroughly unimpressed with the Big 10 this year. Michigan has looked DREADFUL, Wisconsin just had a close scrape against The Citadel, and Ohio State can't score points. They were praised for holding Akron to 2 points, but they only scored 20-something, while perennial Big 10 whipping boy Indiana posted 40+ against the same team. Purdue and Michigan State have high-powered offenses, but you can't win the Big 10 if you can't play defense; and they can't.

The only Big 10 team that's truly impressed me so far this year is Penn State, and I'm even holding out judgment on them because they tend to fold in conference play.

The Big East is the weakest of the BCS conferences. West Viriginia is a Top 20 team. It is not a Top 5 team, and may or may not be a Top 10 team.
