Born on April 29, 1961 in Benton, Arkansas, Wes Gardner (Wesley Brian Gardner) played for the New York Mets, Boston Red Sox, San Diego Padres and Kansas City Royals over the course of his 8 year career. Gardner broke into the bigs on July 29, 1984 with the New York Mets, and put up a 5.42 ERA in 89.2 innings pitched in 1987, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Wes Gardner's best season was 1988, when he posted a 3.50 ERA and struck out 106 batters.
