Well, Pittsburgh is definitely going to win

Or so says one, Anthony Smith. I had to look it up and double check, because I have no clue who the hell Anthony Smith is supposed to be. This makes it a lot worse, because my team currently resides in the AFC North and has already lost to Pittsburgh twice. And that is twice.

So, one Anthony Smith guaranteed a victory against the New England Patriots. And just for the record, apparently being a 2nd year starter out of Syracuse enables you to shoot your mouth off for your team. Nice hierarchy. First thought that came to my mind was, "Fuck, great way to ruin element of surprise." Because, I may not like the Pittsburgh Steelers because they are a long time hated rival, but they are already going to make the division and get int he playoffs, so they did try to keep the biggest dick in the NFL from having an undefeated record and failed.

But, as I live and breathe, Rodney Harrison did all the work to calm me down - there's a first for everything. They're so focused on the Steelers that they don't even know who the hell Anthony Smith is! Now, could Harrison be lying to make fun of and demean Smith? I believe that to be the case. There's no doubt that they're preparing equally hard to beat the Steelers, who seem to be the last team that could hand them a loss. But I'm sure that was also the case the last two weeks when the Patriots played poorly, but eeked out wins against the Eagles and Ravens. So, whether Rodney Harrison knows who Smith is may be irrelevant, but there's no doubt Randy Moss and Tom Brady do.

If an unknown player makes a guarantee, does it count? [Larry Brown Sports]

Who the hell is Anthony Smith? This would have more cred if it was Michael Smith, Emmit Smith, or quite frankly, even Stephen A. Smith.

Can we get a little more original? I mean half the time someone shoots his mouth of the reply is "who?" At the same time, I wouldn't want to give the Patriots any bulletin board material. If we have learned one thing about BB its that he is a pretty big prick and he loves to shove things down your throat.

"Who is Carim Garcia?" - Pedro Martinez. That man was a quote machine and this one was one of his best. Steelers get crushed, no-name moron gets burned at least twice, cut the next day.

Rodney Harrison: "I don't know who Anthony Smith is" --- If he hasn't been able to identify who left the Dirty Sanchez mustache above his lip, do you really think he can identify the Steelers depth charts?

This is driving me nuts. Did anyone actually here what Smith said? He never guaranteed a victory; it's just more sensationalism and irresponsible reporting by ESPN. What he said was "I think we will win...IF we play the way we have to play." Tell me what is wrong with that. If asked whether you will beat a team, what are supposed to say? Nah, I don't think so? What Smith said is something every player would say before every game. That's my thought on this whole thing.

Of course every player should BELIEVE that his team is going to win the game, no point in playing otherwise. However, it's not ESPN's irresponsible reporting, the quote comes from the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. So, if you think that's incorrect, you should take it up with them. "We're going to win," Smith said today after practice. "Yeah, I can guarantee a win." - http://www.p...39489-66.stm

That quote is cut off. I can guarantee a win....IF we do what we're supposed to do. I saw him say it on ESPN today. And even after he says that, ESPN plays it off as a "There is no way we will lose this game!" type of quote.

Hey, I dislike ESPN as much as the next person, but I got the quotes via LarryBrownSpots through the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. What was or was not said on ESPN, I have no idea, I rarely watch their programming anymore.

Of everything I saw on ESPN, nothing showed him guaranteeing the win without clarification. "Yeah, we'll win...IF...yada yada yada."

Thank you Bberg. And for the record, the question was regarding whether or not the Steelers were confident going into sundays game.

I still think that the Pats aren't going to be undefeated. It's either THIS game or the Giants game (final game of the regular season) when it happens.

I suppose you quoted Harrison because he is such a model vet. Yeah, 4 game suspension for HGH. That's leadership. How about a coach caught cheating, looks like he is a great leader too.

Once again, some team is wiping egg from their face and now chowing down on some crow. Whoever thought a toss sweep to Hines Ward on 4th and goal deserves to be fired without so much as a nickle of severance pay!
