Week one matchup, Jets Vs. Pats

What a great game to kick off the season, if you are a New England Patriots fan. A Jets fan... not so much. The Pats bring too much offense to the table now with Moss going deep and Welker being as fast as he is. Watson is also going to emerge as one of the better pass catching tight ends in the game.

The Jets do not have any names on defense. I feel as the Maroney will be able to run right around the ends for big gains. Brady will have the protection he is used to and be able to find Moss, Welker, Washington, Watson and Maroney with those deep passes and the short quick routes.

On the other side of the ball the Patriots are to sound, even without Harrison. Pennignton is a good quarterback but he needs time to get the ball off he is a guy that collapes under pressure. Thomas Jones is probaly the biggest threat to the Patroits this weekend. The Pats traditionally have a great run defense, but Jones is a speedy power back, who will make his presence felt, if he play's.

Watch for the score to be 27-10 with the New England Patriots coming out on top.

I have said this to myself for the past three years: "Ben Watson is going to be a beast this year". It hasn't happened yet. He is still a beast physically, but he's gotta show me a little more than he has so far. He's almost in overrated territory.

This is a pretty poor analysis. Welker scares me and Brady always finds his TEs, but Randy Moss hasn't been a factor for two years and missed basically all of training camp. I am not ready to sing the praises of the Pats offense yet, even though there is no doubting that it is better on paper than it was last year. People are in denial if they aren;t at least a little concerned about the Pats defense. Surely their DLine is terrific and deep even with the absence of Richard Seymour, but Jarvis Green is not Richard Seymour and losing a pro-bowler always hurts. The linebacking corp is a huge question mark. I don't for the life of me understand why people are ignoring this. They don't have a single impact linebacker under the age of 30. Vrabel is 32, Bruschi is 34, Izzo is 33 and Seau is 38. Colvin is an injury prone 30 and the big question is whether Adalius Thomas was a product of playing next to Ray Lewis. If so, the Pats are going to depending on Bill B's genius exclusively this year. It is my experience that you can coach around a lot of things, but it is near impossible to coach around a LB corp that has lost a step. Finally, on paper, this is not a very good secondary. If Samuel plays it is a big bonus, but even so, not sure what you can expect from a guy who missed all of camp. Without Samuel and Harrison, you are going with Gay, Hobbs, Eugene Wilson and first round pick Brandon Merriweather. The Jets have weapons on offense with Coles, Cotchery, Jones, Washington and Even Chris Baker. While the Jets looked pretty bad during the preseason, they should be able to exploit the Pats defense.

Certainly the Jets have holes and problems as well. They did nothing in the preseason to inspire any confidence. However, looking at this game on paper, I think it is going to be a pretty close game. I would not be surprised if the Jets snuck away with a victory.

If I am a Patriots fan, and I am saying this honestly, not as a Jets fan, I am worried about starting 1-3. In their first 4 games they have to deal with the Jets, Chargers and Bengals. Now, its the Pats, so they could easily go 4-0, but looking at the matchups, I could see LT and Rudi Johnson/Chad Johnson, having a field day.

Moss worked out all offseason, and Should be in fine shape come the opener. He wasn't productive in OAK b/c no one is. Plain and simple. They'll beat the Jets, trust me. they won't drop their season opener to the 1B team in the division. 2-2 at the least. I'd say 3-1, with a split of Cincy-SD

Is it still poor. How bout that PATROIT offense. Moss lokked pretty good. Maybe he just needed a quarter back who new what the hell he is doing.

I think the article should have been alittle longer. Maroney has not had alot of work this pre season and neither has moss so give your defense more credit they still might be a little rusty. one things for sure it will be a good game to watch.

The Patriots are going to win this game, but it will probably be much closer than you forecasted. Week 1 is unpredictable and some crazy stuff is going to happen. But New England is simply better than New York, and will win 21-13.
