Now, After what I like to call a Minnesota Twins week, (slightly above .500) Let's see if I can't improve on 9-of-16.
Packers(1-0) @ Giants(0-1), 1:00 PM
No game this week has more variable than my Giants. Of course, we know that Osi Umeniyora and Brandon Jacobs won't play. However, for the first time in the Eli Manning era, I can say the following:
As long as Eli plays, The Giants have a shot.
He was amazing in week 1. I've already detailed how I felt about it earlier this week. Now, As far as the chances of him playing; I would say that they are at about 60%. He threw today, and took snaps this morning. He has said that there is no constant pain and that the swelling is almost completely gone. Therefore, I'm slightly optimistic.
I would not expect another horrible performance from the Giants defense. They aren't a great unit, but they also are not as bad as they played last week. I think that what you saw was the combination of alot of firsts:
1. New defensive Coordinator Steve Sapgnuolo's first game. 2. Mathias Kiwanuka's First game at LB, in which he looked lost like a four year old in a shopping mall. 3. Strahan's first game back, which featured him being thrown around like a rag doll because he clearly was not in game shape.
With that, The line is only Green Bay by one. I don't use the lines, choosing to pick straight up instead. However, It does show that I'm not the only one thinking this.
Giants 27 - Packers 17
Jets @ Ravens, 4:15 PM
Ok, We have issues. It was reported earlier in the week that Ray Lewis would miss the entire season. Now, He's a game time decision for this week. Can we stop with the all of the false injury reports already?
With Lewis prominently involved and Chad Pennington not, I would expect that the Ravens will have no problem winning this game. I happen to be a believer in Kellen Clemens, but it would be alot to ask for him to win his first start against the best Defense in the league.
Ravens 17 - Jets 3
San Francisco @ St. Louis, 1:00 PM
I'm calling this one the Jason Comack special. I think alot of Mike Nolan and beleive that his team will make the playoffs.
This will come down to a battle of the Running backs. San Fran will limit Steven Jackson, and St. Louis' defense is too weak to stop Frank Gore.
San Francisco 20 - St. Louis 14
San Diego @ New England, 8:15 PM
Ha! I knew something had to be going on. There is no way that there can be a real dynasty in the NFL nowadays.
Clearly, This isn't going to end up mattering unless they take away a first or second round pick. However, wouldn't it be something if this was happening the whole time? This should solidify the Patriots status as the villains of the modern day NFL.
LDT won't run for 25 yards again, and the Chargers take over as the team to beat in the AFC.
San Diego 24 - New England 20
