As the NHL takes a two-day break for holiday observance, let's take a quick spin around the league and see if we cannot find a few goodies in the Waiver Watch stocking...
Karri Ramo, G, Tampa Bay - Tampa's goaltending situation has been horrid this season... G Marc Denis has played like a sieve in his limited starts, and G Johan Holmqvist's game has been up and down more than Coach John Tortorella's blood pressure. So, it is not surprising that the team has finally called up rookie Ramo from the minors to take a shot at steadying the ship. In his first two starts, it seems as though he may be the answer. Stopping 64-of-67 shots that he has faced, Ramo is 1-1 with a .955 SV%. Tampa needs a steady hand in the crease, and if Ramo continues his sharp play, he could steal the #1 job outright. He is a great pickup to take a chance on, should you be thin in goal, especially if you have Homqvist on your roster. If Ramo sticks, look for Tampa to demote Marc Denis and his $2.8M salary to the minors, freeing room for a possible top six forward acquisition before the deadline.
