Final Sunday.
This past Sunday my father Floyd Peters was taken off life support. As a warrior of the NFL for 39 years, my father always gave it his all. From his early days as a player coached by both Paul Brown and Vince Lombardi to his final Sunday Floyd Peters was a strong man.
Floyd never asked for anything he did not earn by the sweat of his brow. Many times reporters wanted my father to say something negative about the head coach or management. Pop would never respond with a negative even after being fired in a less than professional way.
My fathers passing represents an end to an era. Generations will grow up only knowing Vince Lombardi as a trophy and not a coach.
Like the stadiums Floyd Peters played in he is now gone. I only hope he will not be forgotten. To the athletes my father coached and played with I leave this one quote: " Just do your job! "
