Wayne Smith (Wayne Lester Smith) was born on May 9, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois. After going to high school at Harper (Chicago, IL), Smith attended Harold Washington College, Purdue University and the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse. Smith made his professional debut in the NFL in 1980 with the Detroit Lions. He played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings over the course of his 8 year career.
Most people believe that 1984 was Wayne Smith's best year, as he picked off 4 passes.
