Washington Redskins and Baltimore Ravens Start Preseason Off In Different Directions

With one game down in the NFL preseason, the Baltimore-Washington area is a perfect 2-0, but the differences in the Washington Redskins and the Baltimore Ravens is as polar opposite as go-go and club music.
The Redskins looked inconsistent on offense, despite having way more time to show off then the Ravens, who looked crisp on offense and defense in their first outing. While the Skins took sacks, the Ravens were handing them out like cotton candy at the harbor. Both teams second and third units looked sharp, but the stark difference was the Skins having to play catch up against the Tennessee Titans to get a 14-6 win, while the Ravens back-ups played keep away in a 29-3 route.
You could even tell the difference in the post-game comments from the head coaches. While Ravens coach Brian Billick lauded the team for sustaining zero injuries, no turnovers and amassing only three penalties, Skins coach Joe Gibbs remarked on pass protection being a concern, and how hard it is for the team to get a pre-season victory.
One thing worth mentioning for both clubs is that neither faced their opponents' starting quarterback, as both Donovan McNabb for the Philadelphia Eagles and Vince Young for the Tennessee Titans sat out of the contests for injury and suspension, respectively. But facts are facts, and it appears that the Redskins and Ravens franchises are separated by a lot more than a parkway and a choice in local music.
