Washington Nationals Get Artsy

Mayor Adrian Fenty, the top man in the District of Columbia, has cleared the way for $770k to be added to the new Washington Nationals baseball stadium construction fund. Capped at $611 million already, many community and DC Council Members worried that it would exceed the total amount and leak into other city expenditures.
According to the Baltimore Examiner, the $770k will be used to place art work in the new facility for DC baseball. The money was shifted from the city’s equipment leasing fund and into the budget of the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities, which will use it to purchase artwork, including sculptures, for the 41,000-seat stadium.
This ballpark is the major part of a significant renaissance in Southeast DC. All new water front shopping and entertainment is coming in, where the hood life once reigned supreme. Looks like Gilbert Arenas isn't the only one who can bring shine to the SE.
