Was That A Surprise or What?

[1] It wasn't expected for New York Mets starting pitcher Pedro Martinez to have a big impact on his season debut.
Coming off the worse injury of his career, wasn't going to stop Pedro help get his team the win against the Cincinnati Reds 10-4. It was a blow out, and that's what the New York Mets needed. They're not worrying about losing the National League East lead. They found confidences, and that is what they need. Many thought it was over, because of the bullpen struggling. Getting swept by the Philadelphia Phillies which lost against the Atlanta Braves 5-1. Seeing what this team is able to do, makes them like the New York Yankees "You Can Never Count Them Out."
Every team has their slumps, it's a part of sports. The most important thing is to never give up, and we have seen them do that. After losing four straight games, the Mets came back and won four straight. Pedro Martinez return to the mound, was the most impressive. Seeing him back brings more possibilities to the Mets. More pitching can help this team. I was expecting Pedro Martinez to struggle in his season debut against the Cincinnati Reds, but he pitched like he was never injured. Pitching five innings, allowing five hits, three runs, and four strike outs. That helped the Mets get their fourth straight win.
Seeing the New York Mets line-up score ten runs was great, because they were just struggling recently. Shortstop Jose Reyes is still struggling finishing the game one for five. Second basemen Luis Castillo was three for four. Third baseman David Wright was three for five. Outfielder Carlos Beltran was two for five. David Wright was clearly the most productive. Having one home run, and two RBI. He has been producing for the New York Mets as of late. Great production from the line-up. That was needed.
With the New York Mets winning, and the Philadelphia Phillies losing. That puts the Phillies five back of the lead. Its shouldn't be a surprise that the Phillies struggle against the Braves. The Braves had the Phillies number all season, and nothing is going to change. With the New York Mets facing the Cincinnati Reds, a team that's not making the playoffs. Nine games back of the National League Central, and thirteen games back of the Wild Card. This is what the New York Mets are facing. When this series is over, the lead should be even bigger in the National League East.
