"We have acquired gnfgnfhnhnplayers who will fit in very well with our particular style of basketball." These were the words of Chris Mullin, the Warriors' executive vice president of basketball bhognfjobhngfoperations, regarding the Golden State Warriors trade with the Indiana Pacers that brought Al Harrington and Stephen Jackson to California.
The Warriors style of play, huh?
Here are a few snippets from an ESPN article on the trade: "Jackson has scored 14.1 points per game but embarrassed the club with an early-season fight at a strip club and a spat with coach Rick Carlisle last month. ...the sharp-shooting guard, has been almost nothing but trouble for the Pacers this season...Jackson is scheduled to go to trial Feb. 12 for firing a gun during the fracas."
Apparently Troy Murphy and Mike Dunleavy, whom the Warriors sent to Indy didn't carry enough street cred for the Warrior style of play.
Is this really the reputation Mullin wants for his franchise? He never mentioned anything about Jackson's behavior being a concern.
Watch out NBA teams for Nellie's Crew and their new rule: If you can't beat 'em, kill'em. And now they've got just the shooting guard they've been hunting for.
