Ward Connell (Walter J. Connell) was born on May 13, 1899 in Menominee Falls, Wisconsin. After going to high school at Notre Dame Prep (South Bend, IN), Connell attended Lawrence University and the University of Notre Dame. Connell made his professional debut in the NFL in 1926 with the Chicago Cardinals. He played for the Chicago Cardinals for his entire 1 year career.
