Born on April 28, 1875 in Rye, New Hampshire, Walt Woods (Walter Sydney Woods) played for the Chicago Orphans, Louisville Colonels and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 3 year career. Woods broke into the bigs on April 20, 1898 with the Chicago Orphans, and put up a 3.14 ERA in 215 innings pitched in 1898, his rookie year.
