Walt Stickel (Walter E. Stickel) was born on March 31, 1922 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After going to high school at Northeast (Philadelphia, PA), Stickel attended the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Tulsa. Stickel made his professional debut in the NFL in 1946 with the Chicago Bears. He played for the Chicago Bears and Philadelphia Eagles over the course of his 6 year career.

Most people believe that 1946 was Walt Stickel's best year.
