Walt Heap (Walter Richmond Heap, Jr.) was born on September 19, 1921 in Taylor, Texas. After going to high school at Taylor (TX), Heap attended the University of Texas. Heap made his professional debut in the AAFC in 1947 with the Los Angeles Dons. He played for the Los Angeles Dons for his entire 2 year career.

Most people believe that 1947 was Walt Heap's best year, as he picked off 5 passes and ran back an interception for a touchdown.
