Born on April 11, 1964 in Shreveport, Louisiana, Wally Whitehurst (Walter Richard Whitehurst) played for the New York Mets, San Diego Padres and New York Yankees over the course of his 7 year career. Whitehurst broke into the bigs on July 17, 1989 with the New York Mets, and put up a 3.29 ERA in 65.2 innings pitched in 1990, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Wally Whitehurst's best season was 1991, when he posted a 4.18 ERA and struck out 87 batters.
