Wally Westlake (Waldon Thomas Westlake) was born on November 8, 1920 in Gridley, California. He made his Major League debut on April 15, 1947 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1947, his rookie year, he hit .273 with 17 home runs and 69 RBI. Westlake played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, St. Louis Cardinals, Cleveland Indians, Cincinnati Reds and Baltimore Orioles over the course of his 9 year career.

Most people believe that Wally Westlake's best season was 1949, when he slugged 23 home runs, hit for a .282 average and knocked in 104 runs.
