Wally Roettger

Wally Roettger (Walter Henry Roettger) was born on August 28, 1902 in St. Louis, Missouri. He made his Major League debut on May 1, 1927 for the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1928, his rookie year, he hit .341 with 6 home runs and 44 RBI. Roettger played for the St. Louis Cardinals, New York Giants, Cincinnati Reds and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 8 year career.
Most people believe that Wally Roettger's best season was 1930, when he hit for a .283 average and knocked in 51 runs.
