Wally Hess (Walter Bernard Hess) was born on October 28, 1894 in Hammond, Indiana. After going to high school at Hammond (IN), Hess attended Indiana University. Hess made his professional debut in the APFA in 1920 with the Hammond Pros. He played in the APFA for 2 years, playing for the Hammond Pros the entire time. Hess also played in the NFL for 4 years, playing for the Hammond Pros the entire time.
