Wally Gilbert (Walter John Gilbert) was born on December 19, 1900 in Oscoda, Michigan. He made his Major League debut on August 18, 1928 for the Brooklyn Robins. In 1928, his rookie year, he hit .203 with 0 home runs and 3 RBI. Gilbert played for the Brooklyn Robins and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 5 year career.

Most people believe that Wally Gilbert's best season was 1930, when he hit for a .294 average and knocked in 67 runs.
