Walker Cooper (William Walker Cooper) was born on January 8, 1915 in Atherton, Missouri. He made his Major League debut on September 25, 1940 for the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1941, his rookie year, he hit .245 with 1 home run and 20 RBI. Cooper played for the St. Louis Cardinals, New York Giants, Cincinnati Reds, Boston Braves, Milwaukee Braves, Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cubs over the course of his 18 year career.

Most people believe that Walker Cooper's best season was 1947, when he slugged 35 home runs, hit for a .305 average and knocked in 122 runs.
