WVU: Biggest choke?

I touched on this earlier, but the first thing I wanted to do was decode all the BCS possibilities, WVU probably had the biggest choke of all time. There are a lot of nominees, a lot of teams have come up short with everything on the line, heck you can put OSU in there from last year's championship game - although that doesn't give enough credit to Florida playing well and kicking ass. And usually, I don't like the word choke because it belittles the competition.

However, in this case, the competition was bad. Pittsburgh is a bad team,. and we know that not only from their schedule (4-7 before last night), but also from the teams they played and how they played them. Tom Selleck-look alike Dave Wannstedt doesn't have a lot of talent on that team, save for LeSean McCoy, and he still managed to beat a team littered with NFL running backs and safeties.

West Virginia had superior talent, by far. They were playing at home. They had just one win to get against a bad team to be a lock for the national championship game. The week before they had made a statement by blasting UConn, a team that beat Pittsburgh by 20. They choked, Rich Rodriguez choked, and they had the easiest path to the national championship game. They were soft both mentally and physically.

Until they prove something, anything, no one better tell me about how awesomely unstoppable West Virginia is, and how their speed is unmatched. This is especially true for next year when you know they're losing White and Slaton.

Not sure White and Slaton will be leaving first off. If they do i still fell comfortable with Devine and Jarret. Now as far as the biggest choke, not sure it was the biggest but for sure a huge let down. The play calling was horrible execution was crappy. They need to put it behind them and get ready for Oklhoma.

There's really only one play that WVU runs, so the play calling couldn't possibly have been horrible. The spread option leaves the decision in the hands of Pat White or/and Jarret, whether they'll hand off, run, or pass. So, execution is obviously an issue. But this is a choke, because you see this every time with WVU when they're in a close game or a big game. Look at Louisville, they were in a scrum with them when they should have beaten them by three touchdowns. lack of execution comes from choking and folding under pressure.
