WNBA Rookie of the Year Award

The WNBA Rookie of the Year Award is given each year to the first-year player who has had the best performance amongst first-year players league-wide. The winner of the award is determined by the votes of a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters.

Cheryl Ford is the only player to win a rookie of the year award and a WNBA title in the same year. And since Cheryl Ford, no other rookie of the year has led their team to the playoffs.
