WHY?

Why do players insist on being cocky? Why do players always think they are going to win? Why do they always say it? I believe in confidence but sometimes you can have to much.

Well Ryan Garko is just another addition to the list. Cleveland Indians first baseman Ryan Garko said “The champagne tastes just as good on the road as it does at home”. This quote came as the American League Championship Series was shifting back to Boston after Cleveland failed to wrap it up at home. The Indians would end up losing the series in seven games. And I ask why would you say that Garko? All that does it give the other team some motivation and make them start believing that they can beat you.

So please if all the athletes could learn from Ryan Garko and the countless number of guys before him and just shut their mouths and play the game that would be greatly appreciated. And do not forget a team that already has its back against a wall does not need any more motivation to try and beat you. So shut your mouth!!!

Be like Manny, express a sense of apathy that would send most of your fans into fits of apoplectic rage.  :-) Actually being calm and relaxed is the best way to play your best. And it's the best attitude to express to fans. Thank goodness everyone in Boston almost understands Manny.

of course you see it as being cocky, you are a red sox fan. The guy was stating that he had confidence in his team. by your judgement, anytime a player says that he thinks his team practiced hard and will win the game they are being cocky... if the Sox used that as motivation, then good for them, but really...there is no cockiness to it.

“We'll take care of it.”

That sounds cocky...but since it is Varitek i'm sure it isn't.

Jon Kitna said the Lions will win at least 10 games and they are having one of their best seasons so...cockiness is acceptable if u back it up.

Garko's statement may not have caused the Indians to lose the ALCS but it sure didn't help. When you have a lead in series over the other team you keep your mouth shut and let sleeping dogs lie....instead he woke up the sleeping dogs and will have to buy his own champagne while watching the World Series in his recliner.
