W.K. Hicks (Wilmer Kenzie Hicks) was born on July 14, 1942 in Texarkana, Texas. After going to high school at Dunbar (Texarkana, TX), Hicks attended Texas Southern University. Hicks made his professional debut in the AFL in 1964 with the Houston Oilers. He played in the AFL for 6 years, playing for the Houston Oilers the entire time. Hicks also played in the NFL for 3 years, playing for the New York Jets the entire time.

Most people believe that 1965 was W.K. Hicks's best year, as he picked off 9 passes.
