Von Hayes (Von Francis Hayes) was born on August 31, 1958 in Stockton, California. He made his Major League debut on April 14, 1981 for the Cleveland Indians. In 1982, his rookie year, he hit .250 with 14 home runs and 82 RBI. Hayes played for the Cleveland Indians, Philadelphia Phillies and California Angels over the course of his 12 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Von Hayes's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1986, when he slugged 19 home runs, hit for a .305 average and knocked in 98 runs. However, others believe that it was 1984, when he slugged 16 home runs, stole 48 bases, hit for a .292 average and knocked in 67 runs.
