Born on September 27, 1977 in Chinandega, Nicaragua, Vicente Padilla (Vicente de la Cruz Padilla) played for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Philadelphia Phillies and Texas Rangers over the course of his 8 year career. Padilla broke into the bigs on June 29, 1999 with the Arizona Diamondbacks, and put up a 3.72 ERA in 65.1 innings pitched in 2000, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Vicente Padilla's most productive season. Some believe that it was 2002, when he posted a 3.28 ERA, won 14 games and struck out 128 batters. However, others believe that it was 2006, when he posted a 4.50 ERA, won 15 games and struck out 156 batters.
