The 2006 Rose Bowl found the heavily-favored USC Trojans attempting to claim their 2nd straight consensus national title (and 3rd straight AP crown) against Vince Young and the Texas Longhorns. The Trojans were led by 2005 Heisman trophy winner Matt Leinart, 2006 Heisman winner Reggie Bush and his fellow RB LenDale White, and Wide Recievers Steve Smith and Dwayne Jarrett. In the month leading up to the game, ESPN had a series to decide if USC was the Greatest team ever in College history. To no one's suprise, ESPN decided they were in fact the greatest team ever.
Once the game started, though, it became clear that beating Texas would be a tougher task for USC than was originally thought. Still, while Texas fought hard the entire game, they found themselves trailing the Trojans with under two minutes to play. And that's when Young completely took over. With the game on the line, VY marched his Longhorns squad down the field and almost singlehandedly won the game for his team, dashing for dramatic TDs on each of Texas' final two drives and handing the 'Horns a National Championship.
