Villa Stun Chelsea, Arsenal Overcome Portsmouth

Arsenal, who were reduced to 10 men in the second half secured all three points comfortably against visitors Portsmouth 3-1. Goals from Adebayor(Penalty), Fabregas and Rosicky saw the home side comfortably through. Kanu got a late consolation goal for the visitors who could not take advantage when Senderos was sent off in the 50th minute. The shock of the day came when Aston Villa ran out 2-0 winners at home to favourites Chelsea. Knight scored early in the second half and young upcoming senstation Agbonlahor sealed the win with a goal in the dying minutes. Elsewhere Blackburn Rovers beat Manchester City at home 1-0 thanks to an early goal from striker Benny McCarthy. This surely is turning out to be a great unpredictable season.

Villa were entirely outplayed by Chelsea. Practically every statistic had Chelsea ahead of us. Apart from the "Goals Scored" one, which was good really!

i don't think the stats really told the story though, Chelsea was never really all that dangerous. It was definitely a deserved win for Villa.

Liverpool is the team to worry about I think, even though it is still very early.

Liverpool will show their true colours soon enough. Did you see how bad Derby's defense was? My 11 year old nephew could have gotten a hat trick against them. They'll be this season's Watford.

Derby were never threatening to be good, in fairness. Promotion last year came too early for them, in my opinion.

No matter how bad a team is, to get 6 goals in top flight english footbal is an achievement. Their defense did look weak but one still needs to put the ball at the back of the net.
