Vick could also face charges in Virginia: should the Falcons release him?

The whole Vick story is already starting to feel old, but it's just beginning for Ookie himself.  According to this article, Vick could also face charges in Virginia for what is alleged to have occurred in Surry County.  The Commonwealth's Attorney in Surry stated that a grand jury in the case could be "months away."  This means that if Vick somehow manages to avoid suspension this season, he could have another indictment come mid-season.

Arthur Blank, the Falcons' owner, has got to think long and hard about whether to suspend or even release Vick for the good of the team.  While it is true that he has not been convicted of anything, there is no way that this can be anything but a distraction for the team.  Vick will already miss the first day of training camp to appear in court; now he could also be facing other charges during the season, on top of whatever may happen in the federal case.  Blank has been very supportive of Vick in the past, but the team should come first.  That is why Blank should release Vick.

Janetrenodanceparty.jpg Just released from the US Department of Justice: All animals - foreign and domestic - discovered deceased in the United States shall be considered murdered at the hands of Michael Vick. Former US Attorney General Janet Reno is on the case! (weird emails I receive today!)

Vick will not be relased due to salary cap and potential legal issues. He will, however, be one day suspended by the NFL. Prior to that, it is quite possible that a paid leave of absence will be given to Vick.

Isn't there a standard "behavior" clause in each players contract? Isn't this what the Bears referred to when they released Tank Johnson? I'd release him and take my chances.
