[edit] Biography

Born on September 20, 1922 in Reedley, California, Vic Lombardi (Victor Alvin Lombardi) played for the Brooklyn Dodgers and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 6 year career. Lombardi broke into the bigs on April 18, 1945 with the Brooklyn Dodgers, and put up a 3.31 ERA in 203.2 innings pitched in 1945, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Vic Lombardi's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1946, when he posted a 2.89 ERA, won 13 games and struck out 60 batters. However, others believe that it was 1947, when he posted a 2.99 ERA, won 12 games and struck out 72 batters.
