Born on January 25, 1951 in Coleman, Michigan, Vern Ruhle (Vernon Gerald Ruhle) played for the Detroit Tigers, Houston Astros, Cleveland Indians and California Angels over the course of his 13 year career. Ruhle broke into the bigs on September 9, 1974 with the Detroit Tigers, and put up a 4.03 ERA in 190 innings pitched in 1975, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Vern Ruhle's best season was 1980, when he posted a 2.37 ERA, won 12 games and struck out 55 batters.
