Vean Gregg
[edit] Biography
Born on April 13, 1885 in Chehalis, Washington, Vean Gregg (Sylveanus Augustus Gregg) played for the Cleveland Naps, Boston Red Sox, Philadelphia Athletics and Washington Senators over the course of his 8 year career. Gregg broke into the bigs on April 12, 1911 with the Cleveland Naps, and put up a 1.80 ERA in 244.2 innings pitched in 1911, his rookie year.
There is some disagreement on what was Vean Gregg's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1912, when he posted a 2.59 ERA, won 20 games and struck out 184 batters. However, others believe that it was 1911, when he posted a 1.80 ERA, won 23 games and struck out 125 batters.
