Born on June 18, 1866 in Geneva, Illinois, Varney Anderson (Varney Samuel Anderson) played for the Indianapolis Hoosiers and Washington Senators over the course of his 4 year career. Anderson broke into the bigs on August 1, 1889 with the Indianapolis Hoosiers, and put up a 5.89 ERA in 204.2 innings pitched in 1895, his rookie year.
