User talk:BigPPup
Welcome to the site! You may be interested in adding fan boxes, your User Stats or a blog-like Opinion Clubhouse to your user page. In any event, let me know if I can assist you with anything. -- DNL (contact me)
[edit] Glad to have you!
Most of the stuff is pretty easy. You're probably best off putting Clubhouse on your userpage. That'll do most of the work. For "fan" tags, the format is Full Team or School Name. Put some test ones on and I'll help you fix it. As for linking to your user page (or ArmchairGM.com in general), feel free! All links are helpful :) And please, invite your co-writers. Also, when you leave notes on other people's "talk" pages, put --~~~~. Let me know if I can help you with other stuff. --DNL 17:54, 8 June 2006 (EST)
[edit] Your Rugby Status
What position do you play? I played high school rugby myself, and we stunk. I scored one try in my entire three year "career", and my team only ever won about two games. Still, it was all good fun. Is there a competitive rugby system in the US? (Major League Rugby perhaps!?) Alex Holowczak Let me know, my talk page is here.
- On my year's school team, we played pretty much wherever we pleased (it was more fun that way). As a result, we were hopelessly organised, which would explain our poor results. In the end, the school abandoned the team, and put the best players in the year above's team. And everyone dropped out. They took the emphasis off fun, and turned it into a ritual. Best of luck with rugby. I will be putting a rugby section on this site at the end of summer, so your assistance in some areas would be gratefully recieved. It would be focused on International Rugby initially. Feel free to help when I start, but at the moment that is a long way off. I'll let you know more once I've started if you like. Alex Holowczak
[edit] Hey buddy
DNL set up a page where we can complete an offline draft with no time limit. It can be accessed by clicking here: http://www.armchairgm.com/mwiki/index.php?title=2006_Yahoo_Fantasy_Football_League_2004987 If you aren't for an offline draft, then we'll just have to move the draft to another time, and hope that its okay with everyone! As for writing for you website, i apologize for my lack of communication...I'll try my best to write an article about the SEC and the gators...but im sure that if you did one it would still be better than mine!! -Ufgators
[edit] Rugby
I'm happy to start rugby. If you look at Snooker, you see the page on the right. I'll modify that for rugby and put it on there. I'll do a Rugby World Cup section, and I'll put a domestic rugby thing, with different countries. You could do USA if you like. If you see, e.g. team pages for other sports, e.g. New York Yankees, it might be a good idea to copy that format for each team. I'll post a message here when I've done that. Alex Holowczak 06:29, 11 August 2006 (EST)
- Okay, job done. The problem I had was that there are two codes, Rugby League and Rugby Union. To create a team, just link to it, e.g. England Rugby Union Team, and just type and They are all categories, as this helps later on to make the encyclopaedia, as I would be able to ask Roblefko to make. So feel free to start some US stuff, I need to make one or two changes to the Right Template, but you can start with US stuff. If you need help, you can go to "Discuss This Page" on the Rugby page. This would save gargantuan amounts of writing on this page. It may benefit others that may want to help that way. Let me know on that page what you are going to do, so I can check to see how you make it look, and then I can copy that format. You may wish to copy the MLB Player Format, and just change the information in it. A lot to think about. Alex Holowczak 07:12, 11 August 2006 (EST)
[edit] US Teams
I altered the layout slightly, by making them all articles in the category. It looks nicer, and can go in the encyclopedia easier. I put RFC at the end of those that didn't have Athletic Club at the end, I put AC at the end. There was one, OMBAC, I presume is O___ M____ B_____ Athletic Club. Do you know what they are? I can change it to that if so.
If you want to access the Rugby Page, go to the top left of the screen, and type Rugby into the find box. Or even type Rugby on your user page. That will create a link to it, that you can access it from.
It is best we talk about the Rugby on our talk pages, I realised that there is no way I can know if you've typed on the Discuss Page.
I've done a lot on International Rugby Union, e.g. 2003 Rugby Union World Cup , 2000 Rugby League World Cup, 2006 Six Nations. I'll spend some time working back through that.
Alex Holowczak 10:07, 13 August 2006 (EST)
[edit] Rugby Sevens
I'll put a section for Sevens on the main page in a minute. I'll add a rules link for all of them. Would you mind writing the rules for all three codes, I'll edit it to make Sevens sound better if you like. I would do it, but I am in the middle of doing, e.g. Juan Manuel Fangio for about 100 people, and GP-1949 for about 80 years. Then I've got to make a couple of categories for an F1 encyclopedia next week!
Whilst I'm busy with all of that, you could do some more of the Six Nations. You can copy the format from one of the years in the box at the top, and work backwards. Wikipedia was exhausted from 2001 back, but I found something once that went back to 1994 (when it was the Five Nations - that's countered for!) Failing that, you could always do the Tri Nations, you can modify the Six Nations to look like it. You'll need to take a look at the templates to do that, but you'll figure it out. If you have any problems with that, let me know, and I'll sort it out.
I've also done the Rugby Union World Cup, Rugby League World Cup.
Alex Holowczak 06:45, 21 August 2006 (EST)
- Sevens section is done. Alex Holowczak 06:50, 21 August 2006 (EST)
- Fair enough, it's great that you do the US Stuff, because we can probably get Britain, France and S. Hemisphere stuff anywhere. Conversely, I don't know anything for a good US Rugby site. The good thing is - we're doing stuff wikipedia doesn't have. Which puts us one up! Alex Holowczak 06:57, 21 August 2006 (EST)
- RugbyRugby looks great for modern rugby. I need old rugby stuff for the Six Nations. If you happen to find something like that on your travels, let me know!? Alex Holowczak 07:18, 21 August 2006 (EST)
[edit] thanks big P
thanks man! i will indeed live it up! take care, have a great day Ufgators
[edit] Rugby
There are a lot of rules. I know a lot of rules to most sports - just can't play a lot of them! Keep up the work, I'm still struggling to get to grips with the Grand Prix Season of 1935. Only 39 years backwards to go... And about 30 forwards... Keep up the Rugby stuff - it's not at the top of my priority list (it's Number 2...)
BTW, Congratulations on being third in the Fantasy Soccer! - Armchair Fantasy Soccer League In Review (August 23, 2006) Alex Holowczak 08:06, 24 August 2006 (EST)

Gotcha, good point about the comments, I'll try to keep it in mind. Hope you realize I was just trying to be helpful there! :) BTW, in the future, you should use the shortcut ~~~~ to sign your comments on talk pages - that stamps your username and the date/time, and makes it easy to keep track of conversations.

[edit] Cherry and White
To clarify; Temple dropout... but I lasted longer than Bill Cosby! I got accepted for architecture, changed to Sports Admin (was gonna be my own agent when I made it big as a pitcher) then freaked out and chased down life answers (at the School of Hardnox) instead of "following the regularly scheduled program" (I do things in my own flavor, obviously)
I used to have a T-shirt with a pic of a .45 on it that said "TU... it's NOT Kansas"
The years I spent at Temple were the most educating in my life (NOT talking about any of my classes). My freshman year was mind-blowing. It was the first time I ever saw someone die before my eyes (in a freak accident at baseball practice of all places) and first time I had ever seen someone dead from gunshots (a block from the dorms in a botched drug deal)
Very enlightening living in "Norf Philly". Counting the different colors of the tops on crack vials on the way to class, watching cars get jacked and seeing very large football players get dragged down by their gold chains by little sweaty crackheads... wouldn't change it for the world.
Of course, if I wasn't so open-minded, naive AND a very large human, I would have gone to school in the burbs. I didn't grow up in the "ghetto", but it wasn't much different, so I was comfortable at Temple.
Great school though, ALL kinds of different people and never boring.
Now, in PHX I got good weather in a nice neighborhood, with kids and I'm basically an oldhead... WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED??? it's ok. (sometimes I miss the excitement and rush of wondering if I'm gonna get jacked or not/ok, not really...)
[edit] I'm updating your fan box
Damned UMFgator didn't get it quite right... I'm the Manny, you the Man!
[edit] Challenge?
Hey, How about a challenge. If Florida does win on Monday than lets have a challenge. I'll take Florida saying that they should be National Champs and you can have Boise State. It should be fun.
[edit] Admin?
Are you an admin? If so, can you give me the win against The Beast in my challenge against him. Ding won the match, so I win. Alex Holowczak 08:03, 14 January 2007 (EST)
[edit] You were sitting?
I was jumping up and down, but definitely not sitting! Not bad for "a team that doesn't play D", eh? You have eto admit that the Suns play a very entertaining version of basketball... Manuel
Thanks for the compliments, BigPPup. I appreciate them. I am glad you enjoy it and reading it. --- Leslie
[edit] Six Nations
Simply... No! Jason Robinson has returned and done... well... okay so far. After two games, England and France are 2-0, Ireland and Scotland are 1-1, Italy and Wales are 0-2. England-Ireland in two weeks is going to be good. England thumped Scotland in Round 1, but we went down a gear against the Italians (who are much improved). I think the order will be France, Ireland, England, Italy, Scotland, Wales, but I think England could give Ireland and France a game. I was gutted that the Irish lost, especially at Croke Park (what that is to the GA, St. Andrews is to golf). Still, we live in hope! (I'll make JB82 aware of the Six Nations, so he can put it in his reports.) Alex Holowczak 08:54, 12 February 2007 (EST)
[edit] Sorry
They didn't show that part of the Sevens. All we saw were the highlights of the top tier (i.e. the bit with Fiji and New Zealand etc. in) I did see England beat the USA 26-10 in the Group however! Kenya even beat Australia! If I'm right though... doesn't the shield mean you came 13th? Or 9th out of the 16? The Cup goes to the winner, then you've got Plate, Shield and Bowl... but I don't know what order! So well done, but it wasn't that good! England were 7th I think. Well done though - hopefully the US crowd didn't know that and thought "Wow, we won something!" Looking forward to England-USA in the 15 a side game this autumn! Alex Holowczak 05:10, 14 February 2007 (EST)
- Fair enough with the crowd knowledge thing. I did some research on wikipedia - sorry to disappoint you but it was 13th. Look here, 3rd & 4th from each group went into a bowl (9th to 16th overall). You then lost to Canada (OUCH!) in the Quarter Final of the Bowl, so you're into 13th to 16th overall - the Shield. You then beat the West Indies and Portugal to come 13th. Sorry about that. :( Still, 13th in the world isn't bad, and if it helps the USA break out internationally, it can only be a good thing. Alex Holowczak 05:25, 14 February 2007 (EST)
[edit] Thanks! I join tonight!
I gotta do it from home. Is it open or is space limited? Mrs Stiles will LOVE to join in if there's space... Mr Broken Link
- Do we get extra points if we pick Virginia?
- Thanks, same goes to you. We've had some of the best debates I can remember on this site. Btw, I'm in (and ready to win). I would have won a local tournament but I didn't see goerge mason comming and that screwed me up, and Michigan St. got knocked out early. False Prophet 22:43, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
