Sports Information
Favorite Moment1927 World Series both games at Yankee Stadium, and Sandy Koufax just pitching. And UCLA winning first NCAA Crown with 30-0 season with no player over 6'5". Then winning 9 more in the next 11 years.
Worst MomentTo many to even think about.
Favorite AthletesTed Williams and Sandy Koufax both represented the best of their era. Sandy's career was cut short by his body and Ted's by the war. I got to know Ted during the WWII and watched him play all kinds of games and to me he was one of the greatest hitters to walk to the plate.
Least Favorite AthletesRose and Bonds. Two of the biggest losers in baseball. Rose was a cheat and liar and did things that should have kicked him out of baseball just as it did later on. And Bonds also a liar and cheat because he has gotten to where he is by using artifical means steriods to accomplish his baseball statistics. Since his going on drugs he has gained 35+lbs and added strength and gotten more homeruns because with these drugs give him added strength to hit the ball further at a older age. The steriods don't really help you hit the ball but they do make it go further, particularly now that he has reached 35 and over.

Thank you VERY much. Your suggestions are the BEST we have received during the two years we have been trying.

I will get in touch with Tom, who was Mickey's friend and we will follow up on your advice.

Thanks again.

Thank you very much. My friend, Tom, is friendly with Mickey's sons, but they have not been able to help.

He is sending Mickey's friend, Greer Johnson, a copy, and is going to ask her to write a new foreword.

We have also contacted the Yankees, who basically ignored us.

I use baseball-reference and baseball library for statistics and biographical information.

My friend and I have written a book about Mickey Mantle. My friend became good friends with Mickey, and the book, which we are having trouble getting published, has a lot of previously unknown stories about Mickey.

I can send you an email copy, but it is a big file.

I get an idea or pick a time. I go to the New York Times, which I can access thanks to the Westchester Library System.

I type in the name of a team or a player and a date range (09/01/1919 to 09/30/1919). I get many articles that I read, and when I find something interesting, I write about it.

I heard of Billy Evans, and am familiar with a lot of the things I read about.

I changed some of the Miller Huggins article. I hope you don't mind. If it's a problem, let me know and I'll have an admin undo my edits.

OK, I'm with you on Wooden. He didn't just make great basketball players, he made great men that played basketball.

But if you were starting your team in a place where time and place don't matter - Who would you rather have as your coach?

John Wooden or Red Auerbach??? Not so easy now, is it?
