Sports Information
Favorite MomentBill Mazeroski hitting walkoff homer winning 1960 World Series for Pirates over Yankees.
Worst MomentBraves losing 1991 World Series Game 7 by 1-0 in ten innings to the Twins and Jack Morris.
Favorite AthletesDale Murphy was my favorite athlete because he played the game the way it should be and because he was a great role model for kids.
Least Favorite AthletesBarry Bonds is my least favorite athlete because of his massive ego and not being a team player but only looking out for his own agenda and being too good to pose for team photos. It is a mystery why he would withdraw his suit against the authors of Game of Shadows since he was suing them for using leaked information and didn't contest them saying he was using steroids.
Other Information
MoviesEight Men Out...shows how eight lives were ruined by a combination of their greed and the greed of their owner Charles Comiskey.
TVHome Run Derby...a home run derby without all the hype shown back about 1960.
MusicLike Diana Krall and Frank Sinatra type music. Plus also liked the blues sung by Freddy King, Albert King and Bobby Blue Bland.
BooksWe Played the Game...best baseball book ever written.
MagazinesThe Sporting News of the 50's and 60's when it was all baseball. Nothing like it around today.
SnacksPork chops and country fried steak.
DrinksRoot beer and root beer floats.

I'm puzzled by your statement "Ted Williams was 2 for 15 and hit .133 against Score." Are you talking about a single season?

I saw 4 homers. Baseball Reference shows 4.

Hey Owl!

Were you talking about the Tampa Bay article? My brain's been in a fog with the cold meds and finals.

He spent the last four years catching Felix Hernandez, so I doubt anyone would impress him much. If the Braves struggle, I would think they would consider trading Teixeira before the deadline. He likely won't resign in Atlanta so might as well get a bunch of prospects for him if they can. And he is a notoriously slow starter, I'm not at all worried about his production, or lack thereof. He's my pick for NL MVP.

Yeah, I saw it. Good pitching matchup. I saw Samardzia in spring training and wasn't impressed.

Minaya has a tendency to get wrapped up in pitchers 'stuff'. Bannister, a smart guy, a battler and a very intelligent pitcher just didn't fit the Mets pitching mold.

That trade looks like it may hurt the Mets quite a bit. It did last year. And with Pedro out, it will hurt them this year.

Much like Lastings Milledge and Scott Kazmir, the Mets gave him away for nothing.

Am a retired newspaper production worker that has been following baseball since 1955. Have been fortunate to have seen Ted Williams, Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, Yogi Berra and Whitey Ford in Kansas City in the 50's and 60's. Saw Maris and Mantle homer in same game the year after Maris had hit 61 home runs.
