[edit] Welcome.
I am brand spanking new to this site. I was extended an invitation by Rich and, simply put, I took it.
I write for my friend's Florida College Sports blog site. I am the main college baseball writer there, though I also add my input on anything related to the University of Miami. Yes, I'm a Hurrcanes fan. I can't help it, I grew up in South Florida. Not much to root for down there but them, if you know what I mean.
I guess I will be writing just about the same stuff here, unless you guys (because this is for you, the readers) can think of something better for me to do. (Keep the suggestions at least NC-17, though, if that's all right with you.)
I hope you enjoy yourself here. I will be writing about mostly The U during college football season, though I have a strong opinion about everything else. Don't worry, you'll see soon enough. When college baseball comes around, I will be posting about all the major conferences, but mostly about The ACC. After all, my beloved Hurricanes play in it.
By all means, feel free to send me messages. It's always good to get messages, it makes you feel like someone read what you wrote and left you their opinion on the matter. I am always up for good banter. Of course, the key word of that sentence is good.
[edit] An Explanation of Other Teams
While a wee little boy (who the hell am I kidding, I was a fat-ass growing up and am still a fat-ass now -- though, I am losing weight) my dad had me watch his favorite players -- Joe Montana, Dale Murphy, Ryan Sandberg, and everything related to the University of Miami.
I watched Montana excel for the 49ers, on the other hand I saw Murphy play for some of the worst Atlanta Braves teams ever. Even though my dads favorite second baseman was Sandberg, I never took to watching the Cubs. Weird, isn't it? I passed on the Cubs for the Braves. The 49ers were the only team I knew to watch in the NFL.
As I grew older my brother got me into basketball so I started watching the NBA. I know, I know -- HUGE mistake. However, I did come across a player I learned to love, Sir Charles Barkley. I never really had a favorite team in basketball, rooting only for the team that Barkley was a part of. Yes, even the Houston Rockets at the end of his career.
While living in Anchorage, Alaska (stop freaking out), I started to get into hockey, particularly college hockey. I rooted for the University of Alaska-Anchorage before moving to Massachusetts. I still keep up with them with the beauty of the internet, however, I've found a new college hockey team to love -- the Terriers of Boston Univeristy.
There's a long history of sports in my life. In the Spring, I try to get out to a few college baseball games, but it's a bit difficult because I am an assistant baseball coach at my high school alma mater.
I know this is quite a bit to digest, so sit back and relax. Just let your eyes do the work. I am going to have plenty of fun, and I hope you do too.
