Uh-oh...South Florida vs. Ohio State in the BCS Championship!

First of all, I grew up a USC fan and I went to Georgia Tech...no comment necessary. Second, I am on my way to going 0-5 in my weekly college five teamer after I went 4-1 last week. Third, it is looking like LSU may lose at home to Florida (LSU pulled it out)

So, assuming LSU does lose a game.

What if your college national championship ended up being South Florida vs. Ohio State?

Undefeated Teams in the Top 10 and Their Biggest Games:

  • Cal - @ Arizona St, USC, @ UCLA - they lose one of those games
  • Boston College - @ Virigina Tech, Florida State, @ Clemson - they lose one of those games
  • Ohio State - @ Penn State, Illinois, Wisconsin, @ Michigan - I think they go 4-0
  • South Florida - @ Rutgers, Louisville, Cincy - I think they go 3-0

Do you really think enough voters will put SF ahead of a 1-loss SEC team? Or a 1-loss USC? It's not fair, but I think it's extremely unlikely USF plays for the national championship, even if they do deserve it.

They will have beat Auburn on the road, WV @ #5, Cincy in the top 25, Rutgers in the top 25...that is decent resume

South Florida in the championship game is not at all out of the question. They will likely be #4 in the next poll with the majority of the conference games still to play, which means that at least a couple of the teams ahead of them are going to get knocked off. If they go undefeated, I would expect to see USF play for the title.

South Florida is this year's Boise St. The funniest thing is that FSU and Miami are not the top two NCAA teams in Florida.
