US Played Well, but Reliance on the Three is a Concern

Don't get me wrong, the US played great in this tournament, but they relied too much on the three for my liking. The Thomas Mack Center seemed to have friendly rims, but who knows if the new Wukesong Arena in Beijing will be as kind? If the US has an off shooting night against one of the world powers at full strength, they are susceptible to being upset.

I dont think they were to reliant on the 3. They barely shot any three balls until the championship games. They were just plain dominant with dunking

I didn't watch the games but have to admit after watching the highlights that these guys seemed to be playing well as a team. After all the criticism of previous play, I think Coach K and the team deserve a few kudos for turning an extremely negative situation into a positive.

Fair enough, but one hopes that the country supports these guys when they do go to the Olympics.

I think they took 41 threes mostly because Argentina's rotations were so bad on defense that US players were frequently wide open on the perimeter. I mean, it's not like our entire offense revolves around the 3 -- but if you're that wide open, you kinda have to take the shot.

At least they qualified for the Olympics. One of these days, the lack of fundamentals in the US is going to cost them even a spot in the Olympics. Yes, the love the 3-pointer is a concern, but, this is the best internatinal team the US has sent in a decade.
