UM-FIU Part II…Lets Get Ready to Rumble and Maybe Play Some Football Too?

Now that The University of Miami found themselves a new head coach last week in Randy Shannon, thus the new foundation was laid into constructing & building an entirely different perception of the football program. Okay, for any of us who actually believe this silly notion, I guess also believed it when Bill Clinton told us he "did not have any sexual relations with that woman." Good try, I applaud the efforts and can’t fault you for trying to pull the wool over our eyes, but honestly how dumb do you think we are to believe that? That’s like saying Michael Irvin will never from this point forward get into trouble with the law again, some way, some how…Same goes for you at "The U"!
I don’t know a whole heck of a lot about trying to recreate some kind of image, especially when it has to deal with thug life as the University of Miami football program demonstrates to us on a yearly basis…Changing from that persona to one of some kind of "normalcy", if that’s even possible in Coral Gables. Although I do know this…Your decision to once again play FIU next season honestly doesn’t help you cause in trying to help change the culture of what Miami Football is! Are you kidding me, you guys are actually going to play FIU next season? Look, I don’t care about who started the brawl in the O.B. in October…By just having the two teams step back out on the field, well you’re just asking for trouble. Then again, you are "The U", and that’s what you guys stand for!
"We have a game that's scheduled and we're going to play it," the Miami Herald's Web site quoted Miami’s Athletic Director Paul Dee as saying. "We have good people and I think everyone understands what happened can't happen again. The game will be played." You have good people…Yeah, those are some of the finest civilians to walk the face of the earth down there. Last time I checked good people don’t engage in a bench clearing brawl. Good people don’t employ other "good people" such as Lamar Thomas. Good people usually hand down some kind of discipline stemming from the president of the school. Paul, my man…Think you got the wrong word, the correct term is "thug" not "good. And what’s this junk about "everyone understands what happened can't happen again?" What, was an email sent out to all the players the night before the game telling them not to engage in an all out riot and some players didn’t receive it? I know how that spam mail can be! Or did Larry Coker forget to address this to the team in his pre-game speech? But now Randy Shannon knows not to…Am I right?
I have a hard time believing there wasn’t anybody out there you couldn’t find to replace FIU with. Have you heard of UCF, maybe FAU…That is if you wanted to have a pancake opponent replace a creampuff one! Have things gotten so bad at "The U" that you guys just need any publicity that the team can receive either good or bad, (good…That’s funny!)?. We all know next season, when this sorry ass game takes place, the lead up to it in the media is going to mimic a deep cavity search! Don’t come at me with the shit, "oh, it’s a cross town rivalry!" Really, when did the rivalry first begin…Oh yeah, this past October considering FIU has only been playing football a few seasons! Now there’s a hell of a rivalry…One installment, plus a several minute riot for good nature!
If you think tensions ran high throughout the evening this past October with several instances of players exchanging heated words at the end of plays…You ain’t seen nothing yet! You do recall that more than two dozen uniformed police officers came onto the field, trying to end the fights for several minutes. However, after order was restored on the field, one fight broke out among fans in the northwest corner of the end zone, with more than 12 police officers running into the stands to break up that melee. More officers, including some wearing helmets, continued to surround the perimeter of the field. Don’t we all love going to watch a friendly cross-town rivalry game dressed in our stylish S.W.A.T. and riot gear? I know I love nothing more!
Maybe the right question to be asking here isn’t, "If this is morally & politically the right thing to do?", because we all know it’s not! Rather, the question becomes, "Is this the safest thing to do?" And the same answer applies…No! Now we’ve all seen the movie "The Last Boy Scout"…Is this where it’s headed? Don’t think for a second that’s a stretch either!
So last year it was players from both sides swinging helmets and swinging crutches at players. What will the sequel have next year? It might just as well be glocks! Shoot’um up, right? All this coming from a "supposed" high institution of academia learning… Great Message you guys are sending! Although considering what "high institution of academia learning" this is, (and I use that term very loosely) we’ve come to expect nothing less from you guys. Great Job! Keep up the Thug Life mentality down there! Throw your hands in the air and wave them around like you just don’t care, because in all honesty, YOU REALLY DON"T CARE! You guys never have and never will! For you lameasses will always have your heads buried in the sand…It’s just something in the water down in Coral Gables! Perhaps if somebody would wipe the sand out of your eyes, someone at that institution might finally realize all this…Isn’t that right Donna? Although what does she know anyway? She’s just a damn puppet! AGAIN, JOB WELL DONE!
