[edit] Biography

Acquired:

Signed as a free agent 2002

2006:

A leader on field and in the locker room, Tyrone enjoyed another strong season, his fifth as a Lion. Recording 43 defensive tackles, four sacks, three TFL, two forced fumbles and five pass knockdowns Tyrone’s consistent play was rewarded with his first West Division and CFL All-Star selection as well as two Lineman of the Week awards (Sep 1, Sep 24) and a Lineman of the Month honour (September). Big T also chipped in with four defensive tackles in the West Championship and three more in the Grey Cup.

2005:

Started all 18 regular season games for the Lions at defensive tackle recording 59 total tackles (which led all interior linemen in the CFL). Tied for the CFL lead in forced fumbles with 4 in 2005. Received the CFL Lineman of the Month Award for August and was named Lineman of the Week for Aug 30/05.

2004: Had 55 tackles and returned his only career interception 44 yards.

1996-2001:

Prior to joining the Lions in 2002, Tyrone played five seasons in the NFL (1996-2001) recording 25 tackles and 5 sacks in 42 games.

Notable:

After enjoying his finest season in 2005, Tyrone continued to create havoc in the trenches last season and now has 21 sacks in his five CFL campaigns. Fighting through almost constant double teams in 2006, Tyrone helped clear the way for teammates Aaron Hunt and Brent Johnson as each enjoyed all-star campaigns. Tyrone even helped out the offence with a TD reception @ Saskatchewan (June 25/06).

College:

Williams was a starter for three years at the University of Wyoming, playing defensive end during this first two seasons before switching to defensive tackle as a junior. As a senior, he made 44 tackles and 4 sacks.

Personal:

Growing up in Philadelphia, Williams idolized the Eagles and his favourite athlete, Charles Barkley. He is a talented cook, and will often host barbecues for his teammates. Tyrone and his wife Amy are the parents of four children: Deshon, Amandre, Teryn, and Tayvian and spend the off-season just south of Seattle.
