Two Dallas Stars Make The All-Star Roster

On Saturday, the NHL finalized the All-Star Roster and two Dallas Stars have been chosen to play next week, Defenseman Philippe Boucher and Goaltender Marty Turco.

When this announcement came out, I have two reactions.

1. One Dallas Star deserves his spot.

2. One Dallas Star shouldn't be there.

Philippe Boucher should be there, as he leads the team in points and goals and would be the Stars MVP if the regular season today.

Boucher's Stats Are As Followed:

-13 Goals, 20 Assists, 33 Points, +3 and 8 PPG, Boucher is also tied for 2nd in the NHL for Defenseman Goal Scoring

The Stars most consistent player through their current injury bug, Boucher's value was proven during Thursday's game vs. Anaheim. When Boucher was ejected after a Boarding Major, he couldn't kill the power pill that netted two goals or score any goals on the power play for Dallas as the Ducks were able to shutdown the offense.

Now for the players who shouldn't be on the All-Star Roster:

As for Marty Turco, he has had an inconsistent season. Early on, he was very good. Yet, with the current Injury Bug, Turco has not stepped up and needed to, as his backup Mike Smith is currently dealing with post concussion syndrome issues.

Now, A Winning Record, A 2.34 GAA and a Save Percentage of 91% is okay, but this is the NHL All-Star Game, not the NHL Average Players Game.....

If J.S. Giguere of the Anaheim Ducks is healthy, he is selected for the All-Star Game over Marty Turco. Currently, Giguere has a 23-4-5 record, 2.17 GAA and a 92.4 Save Percentage.....That's pretty impressive, yet an injury keeps Giguere From Playing in Dallas next week.

If you want the goalies who were snubbed due to Turco's inclusion to the All-Star Roster, Detroit's Dominik Hasek and Nashville's Chris Mason come to mind.

Hasek's Stats: 23-7-3, 2.03 GAA and a save percentage of 91.1%. Hasek is also #1 in Goals Against Average in the NHL.....

Mason's Stats: 18-7-2, 2.31 GAA and a save percentage of 93%. Mason is also #1 in Save Percentage in the NHL....

Thus, all the Detroit and Nashville fans should be upset at Turco's inclusion instead of their netminders.....

I am disgusted at Hasek's absence.

I think I know why Hasek was left out. When I voted, I had to "type in" Hasek's name, rather than select it from the premier drop down list. A fault with the voting ballot, not with the voters on that one. Many would have overlooked the small print allowing name type-ins, especially if they did it in a hurry, or other reasons.
