Born on December 12, 1874 in Etna, Georgia, Tully Sparks (Thomas Frank Sparks) played for the Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates, Milwaukee Brewers, New York Giants and Boston Americans over the course of his 12 year career. Sparks broke into the bigs on September 15, 1897 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and put up a 3.86 ERA in 170 innings pitched in 1899, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Tully Sparks's best season was 1907, when he posted a 2.00 ERA, won 22 games and struck out 90 batters.
