Born on August 30, 1944 in Martinez, California, Tug McGraw (Frank Edwin McGraw) played for the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies over the course of his 19 year career. McGraw broke into the bigs on April 18, 1965 with the New York Mets, and put up a 3.32 ERA in 97.2 innings pitched in 1965, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Tug McGraw's best season was 1972, when he posted a 1.70 ERA, notched 27 saves and struck out 92 batters.
