Toss me the remote

I am from the generation that grew watching "SportsCenter" before I went to school. I would also be the first one out of the family van after church, so I could catch last night's highlights.
I don't make mad dashes to the tube for the "Worldwide Leader" anymore.
And why should I? They don't have box scores, they don't show as many highlights and the so-called analysts that spew senseless drivel is absolutely ridiculous.
For every sport, ESPN has assembled its army of analysts. They are always at the ready to contribute to any number of ESPN's platforms, including: TV, radio, Internet and magazine.
However, ESPN has one-upped itself. With the football season still a good month away, the suits in Bristol thought it would be wise to figure out what athlete is now.
"Who's Now?" has to be considered the worst move ever for ESPN. With this show, journalistic integrity is being replaced for public relations banter. It's another example of how ESPN panders to the most superior athletes, all in an effort that they will give the network a story down the line.
And honestly, who really cares who's now? If "The Worldwide Leader" had to decide, it would probably be Terrell Owens for his nonstop TV coverage, including a set of crunches in his driveway.
People aren't stupid. They don't have to be spoonfed what makes a good athlete. A consisent base of winning followed by dominant numbers.
But according to ESPN, that must not be "now."
