Torre is Toast

Yes, that's right folks. I've already publicly stated that if we don't win tonight Mr. Torre will not be back next year. What I didn't say though, was that even if we win tonight, tomorrow and all the way through the World Series, Torre's still not coming back in 2008.

I'm sick and tired of these overpaid, spoiled brats melting down in the postseason. I can't fire the whole damned team, although Lord knows I'd love to, so I'm gonna start with their manager...and maybe the G.M. as well.

George Steinbrenner has issued these job threats before. It's not something I'm shocked to see. But at least for one night, Joe Torre avoided the potential ax.

I'm glad to hear George making these threats, if he didn't I'd be worried for his health. And any fan of the Yankees would be an idiot to not want George alive and writing checks.

George is barely in control of his faculties. I'm surprised anyone let him talk to a reporter, unless the fed him what to say and it was a calculated effort to take the heat off the players. By all accounts tho, George is barely lucid most of the time.
