Top Diamondback Prospect Breaks Hand

3
Vote

Chris Young underwent successful surgery on Monday but will miss most of spring training after breaking his right hand while training in a Bradenton, Florida gym. Young was apparently doing some agility drills, jumping up and down off boxes, when he lost his balance, tried to brace himself and broke his hand upon falling. Arizona GM Josh Byrnes said: "Right now, we're looking at four to six weeks before he can return to play. He's going to miss his spring training at-bats, but I guess the only good news is that it happened now and not in season." Young is expected to be the Diamondbacks' starting center-fielder in 2007.
